Known world wide as the best hitting catcher of all time, I stand here and ask you, when Mike Piazza retires from the A's, will he be inducted into the Baseball hall of fame? Thanks! Cheers!

No doubt he's going in. Most home runs hit by a catcher, he has to get in...

I don't think there is much doubt out there that Mike Piaza will get into the Hall of Fame, however I must say I don't think that he deserves the honor immediately after he becomes eligible. My point is that yes Mike was and is a incredible power hitter, but really that was it. He didn't;t call the best ball games, he didn't have the strongest arm, but baseball is an offensive dominated sport and that is where the man is his best. His title of the best hitting catcher of all time is very arguable, seeing as how there were 3-4 catchers in the ***** Leagues that have documented more long balls, better averages, and more hits than Piazza, but since they don't count you can never actually prove that. In conclusion yes, put Mikes face on a plaque in bronze, but don't give the man the honor before some others who deserve it more.

Repost #3: Mike Piazza will be stepping into as a Met. He performed 7 years with the Mets and six with the Dodgers. He don't have a decision anymore. The hall makes the decision in accordance to who become the usual crew of the participant. because the Dodgers and the Mets were both what might want to be considered usual communities, it would want to pass by technique of ways lengthy he performed for each. So, triumphing by technique of a 365 days, that is going to be the Mets.

He should, and I think it would be something if he and Roger Clemens retire in the same year. Imagine both of them on the same stage together, considering their involvements in on-the-field fracases.

Whether Piazza is the better hitting catcher of all time, better than Bill Dickey, Mickey Cochrane, and others because he has had more homers is something I am not sure of---these two had great batting averages and I do not think anyone will ever know how great Roy Campanella's stats would be if not for his accident, or Thurm's without his.
But. you have to give Piazza his due.
And he'd probably wear Dodger B;ue one more, immortalized time.

Without a doubt he will be in the Hall Of Fame. He is arguably the best hitting catcher of all-time. Not only did he produce his offensive numbers as a catcher, but he did it in the National League. He was given days off and playing as a DH. He was an everyday catcher who took everyday abuse, and the everyday abuse is showing it's effects now. Playing day in and day out, his body was physically stretched to the limits, so being able to put of half of the numbers he did is a feat in itself. He is undoubtably in my mind the best offensive catch ever, thus far at least. Not many catchers put up any major offensive numbers in this day and age. However there are few, Jorge Posada happens to be one of them, but nothing comparable to Mike, his .321 career average is also something to look at. Worn out and beat up he still produced in the playoffs for the mets in 2001. Hitting and playing everyday for a full season as well as the extended season, playoffs.

Most definitely. He ste the records for most home runs by a rookie catcher, his 40 homers in '97 and '99 ranks third all-time among catchers. He hit .362 in 1997 setting a record for highest average by a catcher in the NL (tying the one set by Bill Dickey). He had 201 hits in 1997 setting a record for catchers. He has nine 30 homer seasons, nine .300 seasons, 427 homers, and 2127 hits. His accomplishments:

1993 NL Rookie of the Year
1996 All-Star Game MVP
NL Player of the Month (May 1994)
NL Player of the Month (August 1995)
NL Player of the Month (June 1997)
NL Player of the Month (August 1997)
Most home runs by catcher in career.

Piazza is Top 10 best hitting catchers.

Yes, Piazza is the most prolific offensive producing catcher of all time. His defense was a little suspect, but he wouldnt really hurt you with it.

If his name is not on the Mitchell which-hunt list, he's a lock for Cooperstown.

There is no doubt. He goes in on the first ballot. Better offensive numbers than any catcher ever. The only complaint I have against him is that he didn't charge that piece of garbage Clemens when he threw the bat at him.
