History impacts me every day as I watch the news on CNN or other media and evaluate what is happening now in the context of what has happened in our history. One cannot truly appreciate what occurs daily in our world without putting it into perspective. There are many recurring themes in the events around us - affecting each of us every day - from economics to the environment to health issues to human rights to warfare around the world. If you want to consider only legal issues, the law is often based on historical precedents. You can choose to live without any knowledge of our history and get by, but you won't have a very complete understanding of the world you live in.
