My laptop is an hp. How long should the charged battery last? Why does it go to hibernate after a couple of hours of use?

Usually an hour or two. Depends on the type of battery and how much its been used. It hibernates because thats the default setting - go to the power management window (find it in control panel or sometimes lower lefta hand corner) just change the setting under "hibernate after" to another number or none so it will never hibernate.

Depending on what laptop you've got, how old the battery is, whether you've got a high capacity battery or standard battery, how aggressive your power saving settings are, etc it could be almost anything.

Though I'd expect a few hours out of your battery although that figure will go down although the battery should still be capable of holding most of its charge after a year. In a few years the battery probably won't be all that useful (and neither will a new battery since they lose capacity just sitting on the shelf).

Depends on the cell and power of the computer. Some laptops only get ~1 hour, while some good tablets can get upwards of 18 hours. To get the best answer you would need to post your computer specs and the number of cells in your battery.

(My girlfriend has an old school HP (approx 4 years old) and gets about 3 hours.

Newer laptops typically get 2 to 4 hours of use, depending on what you're doing. It hibernates to save energy.

relies upon on the computing gadget, the dimensions of the battery, and what you're doing. once you've a extreme-end device with a committed pics card and a quad-middle processor, it is going to use battery swifter than a device with a decrease-end processor and purely integrated pics. once you're actual taxing your computing gadget (e.g. playing a recreation or gazing a movie) truly than purely reading textual content, it is going to drain plenty swifter.

Q1: depends on your cell amount for your battery, and your battery settings...
