What short time period? It has been clear for months that an election would be coming and Howard waited until almost the last possible second to call the election. I am not sure that anyone benefits from the remaining time to enroll.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

According to the AEC website, the deadline for new enrollments is 8 p.m. on the 17th and the deadline for update information is 8 p.m. on the 23rd.

There are still three days before writs are issued and the AEC stops new enrollments. As previously stated, you must be stuck under a rock to not know there is an election coming.

If you are far from home you need to apply for a postal vote or vote absentee on the day - and I agree there has been quite enough time, though it's obvious that the change in the law was designed to aid the Liberals.

the date today is the 14th of October .. and you can enrol up until the 1st of November(LEAST I THINK SO)... SO DON'T WASTE ANYTIME if you want to vote ....

I enrolled the day i turned 18 .. I take my right to vote very seriously ..Not always for the same party ... But i figure it gives me a right to criticise who ever gets elected,

EDIT: DISREGARD WHAT I WROTE .. YOU DO ONLY HAVE TILL WEDNESDAY TO BE ENROLLED .. YOU CAN GO TO YOUR POST OFFICE/MEDICARE OR DOWN LOAD THE FORM ( FROM SOMEWHERE ON LINE >> SORRY NOT SURE WHERE
