Alan Arkin was never in "Of Mice And Men"

There was a 1991 version with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich.
You can find that one on amazon.com . The Black and White version was back in 1931, if that's the one your referring to.

There have been several filmed versions of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, but never with Alan Arkin.

The most famous were the 1939 version with Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney, Jr, and the 1992 version with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich.

It appears there were a few TV versions as well, in 1968 with George Segal and Nicol Williamson, and in 1981 with Robert Blake and Randy Quaid. There was even an obscure Turkish version in 1975.

Of all those, only the 1939 version was in black-and-white.

I think you were confusing Arkin with someone else. Nicol Williamson is probably the most similar, facially.

There are DVDs available of the 1939 (R1), 1981 (R1) and 1992 (R1/R2) versions.
