My response to the question by "Joan" about Al Gore and the Nobel Peace Prize was reported, I recieved a violation notice and it was deleted. I will repeat my answer. It was a stupid ignorant question. Does this person not understand what the Nobel Peace Prize is about or are they just really bad at trying to be funny. Either way it was stupid. That is my honest opinion. Obviously the person who reported it (probably the asker) is immature and revengful. Who ever did it should grow up and learn to take what they dish out or get offline. This kind of thing happens a lot in this group. Not to me but to others. I have noticed a lot of answers and questions disappear soon after they are posted. This is rather childish and immature and it is sad that they are supposed to be coming from mature people. If you want to be respected act in such a way as to deserve it.

No pent up anger here. Just because I do not sugarcoat my answer does not make it hostile..just honest. Yes there are stupid questions. They happen here on this site every day. Expressing myself does not mean that I am upset or worried about it.

Only ingrate inbreds report answers to their questions. If one asks for an opinion and one doesn't like the OPINION, get over it, I say! Someone asked, "What went through your mind when..." and I answered honestly and truthfully and got a VIOLATION NOTICE. Y/A must have some serious personality problems to allow things like that to go on...FRIVOLOUS REPORTS. I bet they're all like the CHURCH LADY from SNL in the 70's.

Hmmm, I'm new to this particular group, so I am not up on what's been happening. I was surprised that there seem to be so many who have experienced being deleted. I taught some pretty raw teens in an LA hospital psych unit, and I learned pretty quickly that words are just words. They can't hurt you if you don't let them. Swearing and such just shows how limited the user's vocabulary is. As for taking the Lord's name in vain, well, he (or she, if that is what works for you) can take care of that better than I can. I do get my toga in a knot when somebody makes an unfounded or inaccurate derrogatory remark about others. To me, that just shows the presence of ignorance. I define ignorance as self-imposed lack of knowledge. And, I suppose I have an over-inflated sense of justice or fairness. Sometimes that gets in the way.
So far, I am enjoying this group. We will see how it goes. I see a lively interaction, interesting debate, some serious concerns along with people willing to help, active imagination, humor, and it even seems that some here have formed friendships of a sort. I've seen some answers I disagree with, but have yet to see anything that annoys me enough to feel the need to "report."
Perhaps those who are quick to "report" would do well to figure out how to develop a thicker skin. I am not sure how that is done, so I can offer no suggestions. Or perhaps they feel a certain amount of vulnerability that the power of reporting seems to help ovecome. No suggestions for that, either. And, yes, I have reported a time or two on other sites and will again if I feel it is appropriate. But life is way too brief to get my shorts in a bunch over what is said here.

I didn't actually see this question and if I did, I wouldn't have responded to it because I don't know enough about Al Gore to give an opinion, but I think I can safely say that there are no stupid questions as you put it. The yahoo guidelines clearly state that if answers are threatening in anyway or indulge in name calling or contain "rant"(which usually is overlooked here) then the person must be reported. Maybe if you had rephrased your answer so it didn't appear to be so hostile, it would not have been reported. This is just my personal observation for what it is worth. Try to lighten up a bit ,it's not healthy to have so much pent up anger.

Freedom of speech really doesn't appply on here and it seems that some answers which really should be deleted and reported stay when others who are just answering the question with an honest opinion get reported. The best thing you can do about it is just put it down to the fact that your answer must have really struck a nerve to have gotten reported so you at least achieved that. You really have to try and not take on here too seriously as if you do you end up upset and that is really just not worth it.

I am a firm believer in not reporting anyone for anything. I despise the "tattletale" system. I doubt if it was Joan who reported you. She's not like that. Although I disagree with you that it was "a stupid ignorant question" I respect your right to voice your opinion. You know, there are people who get on here and never ask questions, never answer questions, and just peruse the forum to see who they can report. What kind of thrill it gives them---I do not understand.

No you shouldnt report a Q just because you dont agree with what they are saying..if everyone had the same opinion then you- why ask the question? I'm sick of God-believers getting offended by the fact that i am an athiest-you expect me to respect your beliefs when you have no respect for my beliefs..
ppl may think im angry but i am just matter of fact about it- thats the problem with typed communication-it is just words on a page- it is hard to portray your emotions/opinions the exact way you mean it..

((((HUG)))) and forget it, some days people just get up off
the wrong side of the bed; enough wars going on else where.
only thing I have ever reported is gutter language directed to
peoples person, and some times if its just rotten words I let it go with a thumbs down, Usually if I don't like a Q, especially if it's fuel for fire, I just by pass it. I agree free speech should be
clean speech. Check our anger before it grows to rage. And try to agree to disagree. Blessings

Freedom of speech is akin to equality. Some folks seem to feel theirs is the only freedom of expressing opinions for others to be captive to, and they're a little more equal than the norm. Other than profanity and other nastiness, I'll never know why we can't just live and let live, learn something from others opinions -- maybe they're right ?
If in doubt, a thumb has been known to make a good seat.

We have all had perfectly normal questions deleted, and a lot of thumbs down for answers. Thumbs down usually means the someone does not agree with you. Which they have a right to do. But don't take it to heart. We have also had trouble with a troll. Don't' worry about it just, keep on posting.
When I go to the other culture groups, my mind boggles at th questions and answers they get away with. Sometimes the written word comes across in a different way to the spoken word. So, if you like this site just hang in here, and you will get to know the people who are genuine and for the most part, very caring and loving. But we do have our silly times too. We enjoy them.

Sorry that happened to you...As far as deleting answers you don't like, I would hope not..There's a difference in violations of the rules, and freedom of speech..and some of these young folks don't know the difference...You can appeal the report and yahoo will review it..That's what I did and got my Q&A back on..Yahoo will pay attention to all the reports and when they see a wrong report they won't put as much weight on the reporter as previously.. Appeal it if you still can...Good luck
