Astronomers have spotted a huge comet recently kicked out of it's Ort cloud orbit, that is predicted with 99% accuracy to collide with Earth on Feb. 19th, 2009. All life on Earth will be destroyed.

"In the Days of the Comet," by H.G.Wells, this scenario is played out by the most angst ridden character I have ever read. He was creepy, and his philosophical questions were of a self-pitying nature. I would not pity myself, but revel in the time I had left, then put my head between my knees and wait.
