I was wondering if George Mason University is considered good?

Because I plan to attend Northern Virginia Community College and they have a program where, if you get 2.75 GPA or higher, you can automatically transfer there after obtaining an associates degree.

Also, I want to go to law school some day, and George Mason has a law school. Is it a good idea to go to a law school that is related to the college where you obtained your bachelors degree?

Thanks for any help.

george mason has a good polisci program and it helps that it is close to the political epicenter of US, Washington DC. Most people go to a different law school. I am going to one in state but different college and my friend did the same, it seems to be the norm, you will probably want a change of location after 4-5 years and most law schools don't show preference to same undergrad programs, it's all about LSAT, GPA and then extracurriculars. I think most east coast schools w/ a descent accreditation require 3.5 GPA or higher. Despite what they tell you, it helps if you are a "person of color". I am black and got in w/ a 157 LSAT but a 3.2 undergrad GPA. Good luck, hope it helps

George Mason is reasonably good - not an elite school, but respectable. While it won't be a disadvantage to go to the school where you want to go to law school, it probably won't help you. Every year we have to deal with upset students who get turned down from our law school and thought that since they were graduating from our undergraduate program, it would give them an advantage. Every law school wants to get the best possible group of students, so they will accept students from more prestigious schools in preference to their own graduates.

Is it a good idea? This doesn't matter - no stigma attached if you chose another law school in another state.

Do what is going to make YOU feel good and proud.
