She is ahead by 20-30 in all of the polls, and we all know that in order to win an election the candidate must be able to get some votes from across party lines.... Are the Dems so self distructive that they do not understand this?

First, at this point, the polls measure name recognition.

Second, she has actually been doing well in the debate. The more people see her, the more they realize that the right wing charicature of her is not accurate.

Third, while she is not getting much support from any Republicans, the two parties have become so polarized that it is unlikely that any Democrat will get much support from Republicans. The key to winning is not support from the other party but the ability to get out your base and win support from independents. At the present time, Hillary seems able to do this as shown by the fact that she is ahead of all Republican candidates in head-to-head polling on the general election.

In reality, both parties are a little self-destructive. Most voters are unable to conceive of the fact that there are large segments of voters who are not like them. If a candidate looks and sounds presidential to them, they think that the candidate will appeal to all reasonable people.

Having said that, the Republican Party is so divided that it is going to be difficult for any Republican to win regardless of whom the Democrats nominate. When three of the Republican candidates indicate at a debate that they are not committed to supporting the ultimate nominee and when a major faction of the party is considering running a third party candidate if any of the current front runners win, there is no reason for the Democrats not to nominate the person that they think will be the best president.

Bottom line is that barring a major event that shakes up the race -- Hillary Clinton will be the next President of the United States. Of course, there always is a major event that shakes up the race.

Response to "Here to Help" entry.....

It s always refreshing hearing someone who actually knows how the world works, such as yourself. I have been a truthseeker for years and it never ceases to amaze me thinking about how clueless the majority of people are regarding the reality of our world on a political and economic basis as well as overall. The fact of the matter is that if you follow the money, you will see that the "establishment" has filtered the majority of the money to Hillary Clinton. The plan is for the "powers that be" to place Hillary as the next president. This is of prime importance to understand. A funny note to all of this , is that Hillary is not very well liked by much of the Democratic voters...so the question is ..how will the establishment ensure that their shill ( Hillary ) will win ? Easy.....the election will be rigged. After reading many current and historical sources down through the last ten years ...you will ultimately learn that all elections are rigged. Sounds crazy right?
Until you understand this fact...you will never get a complete grasp of the entire picture. The fact is is that most people are not ready to be unplugged ( The Matrix ) ..and many people dont want to take the blue pill...Hillary is a prime player for the globalists ...and be sure ...she will win and everybody will be wondering ..." Wow ...she won....seems unusual..but maybe not..thats what the media has said all along. And in the end....we accept what the government tells us....Last note......does anyone realize that only two families will dominate the last 25 years of presidential leadership in this country...Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton.....just a coincidence right?

Dems think that Hilary is the best shot they have at the White House. They might be right. Obama has no chance. Richardson is a strong candidate, but he's not black, so doesn't get the Dems excited. Edwards is a buffoon, and has Kerry cooties all over him. Hilary is the best they've got.

Part of me wants to see her win, and dismantle the Patriot Act safeguards the Repubs and Bush launched. The terrorists will use that opening to strike the US again, and the Dems will be out of office for many years to come.

When you start removing God from the scene, this is what you get. " A Hillary " Democrats would vote for Hitler if he were running because of their hatred for George Bush and the liberals hatred for George Bush and God. On the other hand if they had a choice between Harry Truman and Hillary, they would probably pick Hillary . That is how far left the party has gone.

Seriously, absolutely no idea.

I could only guess that ignorance and stupidity would be involved. Or these (push) polls could be paid for to reflect such numbers. Easy enough to do and there's certainly enough money in that campaign to make it happen. Most of the 'scientific' polls are based on a telephone survey of around 1000 'random' people, many use much less. How many people answer the phone for unrecognized numbers, much less actually have land line phones anymore? Most political polls are becoming less statistically significant and are more often used to influence public opinion rather than to determine it.

EDIT: My own scientific poll, which is just as reliable as the big boys, of ten random people shows she has only 12% of public support. When you figure out how I got 12% out of 10 people let me know.

I see a lot of answers like it or not are very close, if not the truth. Hillary is despised by the majority, and the ones who would vote for her are not politically educated or in the majority.
So, it has to be the money coming from her backers of which she will owe her loyalty. We don't know who they all are, but believe this: They have an agenda, and it will not be good for America or her people.

This may sound crazy, but have you ever thought it is all predetermined. There will always be those that cross party lines, but in the end our votes don't matter. I have no use for Hillary, but i realize we may not have a choice. Think about it,they claim one primary determines the candidate. Do we the people have a say in picking someone that doesn't represent we the people

4. her opinions change as fast as the new polls come in
5. she is willing to blame everything on bush and the white men
6. the politcal scientists in hollyweird support her
7. she is not a black man (all dems are racist)(yes even the black men)

Self-Destructive? As opposed to the Republicans and their uber-unpopular war in Iraq? The Dems could nominate a trained monkey and the monkey would beat the clod that the Reps nominate next year. And despite the ridiculous propaganda against her, Clinton's one of the more moderate candidates, like her husband was, which is why the liberal wing of the party is lukewarm towards her. That's why she'll get votes from across the aisle.
