Slope formula:

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

Slope from A(-1, 4) to B(5, -4):

m = (-4 - 4)/(5 - (-1))
m = (-8)/(6)
m = -8/6
m = -4/3, so the slope from A to B is negative.

Slope for B(5, -4) to C(6, 0):

m = (0 - (-4)) / (6 - 5)
m = 4/1
m = 4, so the slope from B to C is positive.

Slope from A(-1, 4) to C(6, 0):

m = (0 - 4)/(6 - (-1))
m = -4/7, so the slope from A to C is negative.

A(-1,4),B(5,-4),and C(6,0)?

use the formula y2-y1 over x2-x1

-4-4 over 5-(-1)
-8 over 6 so the slope is negative

the next point
same formula
0-(-4) over 6-5
4 over 1 or 4 the slope is positive.................

slope of AB=y2-y1/x2-x1
= -4-4/5+1
=-8/6
=-4/3

slope of BC=y2-y1/x2-x1
= 4-0/6-5
=4
slope of AC=y2-y1/x2-x1
= 4-0/-1-6
= -4/7
so AB and AC have negative slopes

m AB = (- 4 - 4) / (5 + 1) = - 8 / 6 = - 4 / 3
m AC = ( 0 - 4) / (6 + 1) = - 4 / 7
m BC = (0 + 4) / (6 - 5) = 4
