Because they risk their lives to protect our rights. I don't know anyone who deserves to be honored more than someone who risks their life for someone else.

If this nation fails to honor its veterans, it runs the risk of not having anyone willing to defend it.

My new rule: It is time that we not only honor our veterans, but work to make sure that only Veterans hold elective office from now on. If someone has not been willing to risk their life to defend this country, they don't deserve to participate in running it.

Veterans have assisted us in living in a free and democratic society. Many are wounded or have given their lives fighting for our freedom. We should honor veterans as a way of thanking them for their service to the United States.

Society ONLY functions with RESPONSIBILITY. The minimum level of responsibility is responsibility for SELF. The adage is "You play, you pay!" Hopefully, as you mature, you begin to recognize higher levels of responsibility.

To your family is the next higher level of responsibility.

To your community, neighborhood, etc. is the next higher level of responsibility.

The highest level of responsibility is to your society (Nation). Veterans have accepted and fulfilled the highest responsibility and for that they deserve both honor and respect.

Sadly our society appears to be approaching NO RESPONSIBILITY even at the level of the individual. "Not my fault", "You owe me", "Me first". This is the road to total disintegration. Criminality refuses to accept responsibility.

Think about it!

Our leaders aren't leaders, but MIRRORS. We can not expect them to be responsibile in their decisions if we are not responsible in our conduct. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!
