God forbid, of course, but if you were to be in a horrible accident or have something happen that would call for you to be put on life support, would you want to be put on it or just have them "pull the plug"? Do you have a living will with a DNR Do Not Resuscitate) order, or are you going to leave your family to decide for you?

I, myself, have a DNR codicil added to my will. The codicil basically states that if something were to happen to me where I would be "brain dead" or kept alive by a machine, the medical personnel would be required by law to "pull the plug" per my wishes, no matter what my family says. I thought long and hard about it, and I don't want to leave my family to be burdened with caring for me if I were unable to care for myself in that capacity. I'd rather be dead than to be fed through tubes and strapped to a bed for the rest of my life. What do you think?

If a person is brain dead, the person as everyone knows them is dead.Period.Pull the plug on a veggie? No doubts.I hope that someone will think of this if I ever get "plugged in".Why keep a body alive that has no thoughts nor emotions? Seems selfish to do something like that.

I want to be given a chance to come out of it. I have it set up that if I don't come out of a coma in three days to pull the plug, but if I'm brain dead, don't wait that long, pull the plug. Why prolong my family's suffering more than necessary?

I would just want them to pull the plug..no use for my family to go through the extra pain.

I don't have a will yet (never really thought about it) but I'm just going to have them pull the plug.

Why should anyone have to (or choose to) let someone like that suffer so long?

thas a difficult question because there are chances that you could progress over time and get better, but if you do the medical bills would be costly to ur family, and what happens if u dont even make it out alive?? i would leave it up to my family definitely, because even though i would still like to be around, even if i was a vegetable, i wouldnt want my family to see me like that, it would be too painful.

Pull the plug and let nature has its way.

i have already told my husband to pull the plug (just in case)...no use prolonging my agony, getting my family in debt to pay for medical bills...besides it would help my family get over me faster....dont want them to suffer on my account....i love them too much...

Good Point.

Also, might I add that you should also make sure that if you want to be a organ donor, you should indicate it on your drivers' license and tell your family your wishes.
