A better answer would be that Islamic Caliphs saved many Classical documents. The texts of the Greeks survived and were celebrated by the Romans in their Empire. When the Roman Empire fell to barbarians, the texts were forgotten or destroyed. Luckily, the Caliphs were enlightened enough to support scholarship and many scholars (many of them Jews) studied copies of these Classical works (Roman and Greek). When the Renaissance came around they rediscovered these Classics (many from Arabic and Turk traders) that had been stowed away, and took them to heart.

Western Europe couldnt salvage them in fact. They were in the Dark Ages after the fall of Rome. The Middle East however was experiencing the Islamic Golden Age where Persian arts and Greek science with Arab theology often mixed. Greek texts from Egypt, Syria were translated into Arabic so Muslims could learn about ancient greek philosophy and science

Generally, no. The Arabs certainly studied Greek Science and philosophy and it was through Latin translations from the Arabic that these works reached the West in the Middle Ages. But in most cases the Greek texts have survived independently and got translated directly during the Renaissance.
Incidentally, for ideological reasons the Arabs were only interested in the scientific branches of Greek thought, where the Greeks in fact made their biggest mistakes, not the poetry, history and drama that constitute the glories of Greek literature. As Gibbon says, if the Arabs had studied more of the Greek humanities, they might have realsised that 'their Caliph was a tyrant and their prophet an impostor".

Alexandria was not the only library. That library was burned by Christian who were on a mission to destroy any vestige of Classical Greek philosophy. When trade began between Western Europe and the Arab world, these materials came into the western world. It was the ancient Greek works that were so persuasively used by Christian Humanist during the Renaissance.

Your question is a bit vauge to answer. The library at Alexandria, which survived to 645 AD, was destroyed by an earthquake. As to any possible "salvage operation", it is not clear who you refer to in Western Europe, or whether you mean ONLY the Moors? After all, it was the Turks who overran Constantinople for good in 1453.
