I will agree it have multiple definitions. But, as "Katie H" say it was used for a era of social time.
I not say there was "No thought", but more a belief that when a woman got pregnant it was God's choice and not planed as to when we do this. It was done in the passions of love and money/financial stability was not the controlling factor, but, love!

I give you the link to the definition. "BUT!!!!" I really not think this was the attitude during the late 60's and early 70's. The people were in a very different mind set as to love, God, and personal well being.

The use I hear most often is impossible combos:

Man + Man

Woman + Woman

Sibling + Sibling

... haveing both of those parents as their genetic parents soem how.

The time it really happens is in Forbidden Love:

Adultry

Siblings/Relatives

Clash in Classes

Royalty with-- anyone basically

... but the only time I am around people in reality they are Insane, Druggies, or Perverts.

When I have heard it from normal people, there was a hidden story behind it. Maybe the parents weren't wed yet. Maybe one of the parents was married, then the pregnancy allowed them to get together offically. Two Teenagers can get married because they managed a "Love Child". Things like that.

Other times it has been used for people who are unwed because of their belief. Such as "Hippies", "Gays", and "Activist",.. The Hippies believe noone should belong to anyone else, the homosexuals cannot actually have a child together alone, and the Activist may not like how things are set up where they live or with the law.. prehaps they want the Brides name to be adopted by the Groom or the children to have things a certain way.

In any case. A "Love Child" never appears to have perfectly conventional circustances and parents up to and during their conception.

A "love child" is a term referred to a child conceived because of love.

I think that it's the opposite of "miracle child". Which is a child born in an unexpected time.

An old phrase from the 20th Century, an embarrassed description of a child born out of wedlock but HOPEFULLY out of love.

I've always understood it to mean a child born of passionate love that gave no thought to the possible results.

The term refers to children conceived with no thought or plan to conceive. Originally used by hippies (I think) because they didn't believe in birth control and simply loved each other.

wow, talk about politically correct answers.

'love child' is nothing more than politely calling the kid a BASTARD.

-what is a bastard?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bastard

i am sick and tired of people trying to soften the blow of titles, things, situations etc with flowery language.

- terminally ill? you're going to die.
- special olympics? your kid is a retard. there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. my friends kid is retarded. when did 'retard' become a bad word?
- significant other. your f-u-c-k buddy. be it a guy or girl.
- morbidly obese. you're a fat sweaty hog that is going to die.
- alternative lifestyle. you're a social screw up living an immoral life.
