Cost of living in Barcelona
This page has average prices for basic goods and services to help give you an idea of the cost of living in Barcelona Spain. These prices were recorded on 14th February 2007.

Please note that there are 100 cents in 1 Euro i.e. 100 cents make up 1 Euro.

Basic Entertaining

Espresso Coffee in Coffee shop - 1 Euro - up to 2.5 euros in tourist places

Bottle of beer from supermarket 1 litre 1.20 Euros

Glass of beer from bar – 2.5 euros
Glass of beer in Irish Bar - 4.5 Euros

Cinema movie Ticket - 5.5 Euros

Grocery Items

Bottle of coke - 1.5 litre - 1.2 Euros

Bottle of water 1 litre from supermarket - 50 c -
Bottle of water 1 litre from tourist area on Ramblas 2.0 Euros

Baguette bread 0.75 c from pattesserie

Cigarettes we can't give prices for all brands but the price varies between 21 to 26 Euros per 10 x 20 pack of cigarettes depending on what brand and where you buy them e.g

Coffee – 1.2 for 250g vacuum packed ground coffee
White Sugar – 95 cents for 1 kg

Tomatoes 1.98 per kilo
Facial tissue – 1.14 Euros per pack of 10 x 10 tissues
Orange juice 55 C per litre
Soft drink – Coke Cola 1.12 Euros per 1.5 litres

Home Expenses
Electricity - 100 KW h of electricity inclusive IVA and service charges = 12.60 Euros
Water - 20 Euros for 10 m3 of water.
Telephone - monthly line rental 12 Euros
ADSL internet with Telefonica - 40 Euros per month

Transportation
T10 Metro Ticket - 10 journeys - 6.90 Euros
Taxi 5 Euros for 10 mins taxi ride.

Gasoline/Petrol

Regular unleaded petrol is 95cents / litre

Miscellaneous goods and services
Hamburger sandwich - 2 Euros for a Mc Donald's big mac
Pizza - vegetarian 8.00 Euros in restaurant
