Whoa! Seen the news ately about all he voilent kids? is this scary or what?

Ok i am 14 and i was reading the news about this one kid who tried to shoot some people in the school and i heard about another kid about too. Is that scary or what? They were my age too! I am kinda freaked out this will happen to me. Not me doing the damage but i mean a classmate. Isnt this stuff scary?

You are right that this is "scary" stuff. Honestly in part guns are way to assessable and the laws are not in place to hinder or punish people who don't do more to keep arms away from children.

But aside from this issue it is honestly an issue of spiritual health. Many people in this society are lost from what is truly wholesome and good. Divorce and single parenting has acerbated this issue but also has mass consumerism as well as a general apathy and self centeredness.

What is it we are feeding our youth in our films, games, books, art, etc. Enough of it is not beneficial at all. Did you know games outsell DVD's. That blows my mind. And on top of that most games are not like Tetris or chess which actually can be a mental challenge but games that glorify violence. I strongly believe this is one of many culprits that have subtly taught kids to act out in violent ways.

Though the causes may be a confluence of events that have led us to the point we are now as a collective ultimately the cure starts with ourselves. Right yourself spiritually and the rest will follow. Be a light unto the world and you will be a beneficial influence for its healing. Maybe you cannot do it all but itself but I think it only makes sense that no one person can save the world. It takes a critical mass of those seeking to do good to make the difference.

Yeah, it's scary but stop & think about the world in which you've grown up in. Since you've been born, the majority of families today are single parent households. You've got song lyrics and movies that have reached new lows in violence and language. There's all of the different video game systems and a majority of the games (at least the popular ones) are even more violent than the 'hit' movies. With parents working as much as they are to make ends meet, older kids (junior high age) are coming home to an empty house with no supervision for sometimes hours. Not ridiculing your generation, mind you. But with all of the outside influences that are being thrown in the faces of these kids, can we really expect anything else? Don't think so....

Yes very scary, being that I have children that go to school and I have to worry about some sick kid trying to go and kill every one! But try not to let that scare you away! But lately its all we hear about on the news and its just scary because I feel some parents are not doing their jobs at home.. if they would sit with thier kids to find out whats going on in their lives, some of these kids would not have even thought of killing others... some are just sick in the head, others just did it spur of the moment.. either way its not right and no one has the right to take someones life away!!!
