Shaking steering wheel is called shimmy, it indicates suspension problem, one of the cause is an unbalance tire, have you tire balance first.

It's your shocks! Usually when you have old shocks, and you get some sort of tire change or something in that area, the shocks get weird. So get new shocks, and also, to help get rid of it completely, get your tires balanced. Depending on if this is a car made in tha past 6 years, take it to any mechanic. If its older, refer to the dealership or a specialist for your car. When someone balances your tires wrong, the whole car could fall apart! Shocks you can get at anywhere. Most likely shocks are cheaper at a local chain mechanic shop then the dealership.

Hope this helps!

I just read what the first person said. It's not the allignment. The are alligned fine. If it was the allignment, your tires would burst within a week. Not the allignment.

Well if you have good shocks and suspension i would suggest that you get an alignment. I recently did similar work and noticed the steering wheel wasnt straight and that i was getting alot of vibration around 60+. I would suggest this anyway because it effects the tread wear, stability of tires and in the case of hydroplaining it keeps the tires square to the road. Hope this helps ya.

You need to do a Steering System Inspection. The steering should not move more than about an inch ( 25mm) without causing front wheel movement.

Could be a couple of things. What you want to do is start with the simplest and progress from there. .....1st thing to do is have the tires balanced. (That's cheap) and you're not really wasting money by doing that.
Take it to the people who put on the new tires. Next, go from there and good luck..........It's possible you need rear tires also balanced.

First thing you can check is to see if your lug nuts have been torqued down properly. If that doesnt help then you should have your wheels rebalanced.
