As long as I wake up every day, and can still sing and dance to my hearts content, then that's all I can ask for. Whatever happened yesterday is done. I can't control what happens out in the world (not saying that I don't care and won't stop trying), but now I just want to make the best of my own little corner of it.
And now if GA Girl will just share that bottle..............!!!

Sometimes I'm disappointed with the circumstances of life but basically I try to hold firmly to appreciating the small and important things of life that matter to me most. I try not to focus too much on that which might have been lost, or not had, but on what I have and the amazingly loving people in my life that truly make such a difference.. Material things really can pass away quickly and so I value very much the relationships that I've developed over the years.. I think life is always a learning process and it can be up and down, and sometimes the challenges are harder than other times.

I am not sure that song was about disillusionment so much as reality of life. I always took that song to mean we make far too much of small stuff when life needn't be such a drama! Remember the lines, "If that's all there is, then let's keep dancing...." I think those were the key words...enjoy life, for this is all we have. Perhaps I am wrong, but that is how I take the message of the song, if there is one. And, Peggy Lee was quite a singer! Goldwing

I was 14 years old when I watched Peggy Lee sing that song on television and I was totally mesmerized by it. I think the message is that whatever happens, happens, and we don't need to make such a big deal out of it.

I've got her singing this song in a tiny club in New York, on Video. She was well into her late 60's early 70"s. It is a special video, and I must try and have it done over to DVD. But it is still in storage in South Africa. I have to sort my things out over there! I think we all get to think like that sometimes. But As Frankie sings. "Pick yourself up and Start All over Again" Peggy Lee. One of my favourites.

Yes. That song can depress a person. But, it is a cheery little number compared to the one that Brecht and Wilde wrote for their musical "The Rise and Fall of Mahogony". A soul-draining little ditty called "Moon of Alabama". That song could probably induce a total optimist into contemplating suicide. LOL!

Probably the most despair I've ever felt is listening to that song. Remember how sad it made me feel the first time I heard and truly wondered if the gal was suicidal.

I called one time and asked the suicide prevention line the very same thing...years ago.(I had been on a diet and went into a deep depression..probably from malnutrition). She said ,"No"..and it jerked me out of the depression. So the answer to the first part of your question is "NO!!!!" (Did that help???)
