You should probably have more respect for it than calling it "pop and lock or whatever" before you begin. Go on YouTube. Check out David Elsewhere- you can also find videos of him on Yahoo! Remember to move against yourself- meaning move with restraint. Imagine a grid all around your body. Try to come back to a specific place in space by referencing the grid. Also remember that people have a very low expectation for dancing and will praise you for doing the smallest thing. Only when the room is blown away have you done it.

Popin' and Lockin' is it's own form of break dancing. You want to go to school on Re-Run off of "What's Happening". After that, there are several "breaking" videos that display Popin' and Lockin', most, if not all, breakers carry some Popin' and Lockin' routines to this very day. What often doesn't get displayed are the more of advanced or acrobatic ground elements of Popin' and Lockin', they get mistaken for, or may actually be, small break dancing moves, but I always thought of small ground moves as popin' and lockin'-extended, so long as the man got back to his feet, it's poppin', y'know. You should be doing a dynamic full body dance, small groundwork just shows out. Pop and Lock.
