Wow, are these wins by Oregon State and Stanford pointing to a very strong top-to-bottom PAC-10 conference, or possibly something else about the top teams in the PAC-10........
by the way, congrats on being the only conference to give Notre Dame a win

theonlybeldin: then I guess there haven't been ANY strong conferences in the last 20 years or so: UCLA, USC, and washington dominate the PAC-10; OSU and Michigan by far dominate the Big Ten; the SEC has more variety in conference champs because they have a title game: but lately it's always Florida, Georgia or Tenn vs LSU or Alabama

touche, 49er. If only we had a stanford/app state game this year to tell whose loss was more shameful. Maybe Wolverines and Trojans in a bowl game again this year?

Okay when a high ranking team loses an in conference game, it doesnt mean that the conference is deep or better. Maybe it means the conference is watered down (see SEC). Who gives a crap about the conference ranking amongst other conferences anyway, all that should matter is your team winning its conference. There is no way to say one team is better than another. No way to say one is deep and the other is paper. Big East is the best conference. Big Twelve is the best conference. ACC is the best conference, its all an opinion. Usually the opinion hinges on what conference your favorite team is in.

Conference strength isn't demonstrated by the top teams always beating up on the bottom ones. It's demonstrated by a good number of teams who can win the conference title.
Which is why the Pac Ten and the SEC are deep, and the Big Ten isn't.

Let's see... No. Stanford would be demolished anywhere else outside the conference. Oregon State would too. It's just that Cal and USC aren't the juggernauts they were built up to be. Look at the Arizona game, I thought USC was supposed to rebound, but no, they barely survived the game. The "Really Deep" Pac-10 is actually really shallow.

It proves that Pac-10 teams that are and where ranked high are overrated. USC, Cal, and Oregon (will soon find out). They wanted to have it seem like USC had a tough conference and would be without a doubt in the championship game.

I guess the question is whether the conference is really deep, or if it's just a conference completely lacking a truly great team. At this point, it's a tough call.
I'd love to see more non-conference play at this time of year, similar to the Big East/SEC challenge that will happen in December during basketball season. It would give us more evidence one way or the other, instead of this constant speculation.

That's pretty dumb. The fact is that in the Pac-10, SEC, Big 12, and Big 10 there are long standing bitter rivalries and the teams beat each other up with regularity. Pac-10 conference upsets are no different than say, Mississippi State beating Auburn, or Auburn beating Florida, or Iowa beating Illinois, or Syracuse beating Louisville, or Colorado beating Oklahoma, in other words, it happens in every conference, culling the scores and just picking it out the times it happens in the Pac 10 is ignorant.

I stay in Oregon and that i'm a huge duck fan. This 365 days i changed into fortunate sufficient to shuttle to L.A. to visual show unit the percent10 journey. as well OSU, the convention changed into very proficient and experienced. purely searching on the rosters you may see each and each and every of the comprehensive gamers the convention had. So convinced, i trust the convention is the wonderful. The ACC is truly proficient as well.
