About XHTML-
It requires that all tags must be closed (even one tag ones like
and and meta tags) It also requires that all tags and attributes be lowercased and double quotes (") be used around the attributes.

XHTML is basically HTML, but with stricter syntax of XML. Every tag must be closed (no more
or

alone!) and other minor differences.
