answerers chart? It says it's updated daily, but my name is never on it. There are answerers on this chart that have less best answers than I do. I'm just wondering, who is actually updating this and why is the list always wrong?
(And no, it's not a big deal to me, I'm just wondering, that's all.)

And have you ever noticed that Rio's stats always say she she either has "201" best answers OR "315", but never anything else? (As if her stats never change?) Something isn't quite right here.

It may say it's updated daily, but for whatever reason, the old lists appear out of nowhere. I'm really supposed to have over 400 BAs in this section.

Yeah, I've 104 best answers in Gws, but haven't even got a top contributer badge. It appeared one day and disappeared as soon as I answered someone elses question.
But Lycra has a point. Some silly badge or being able to make it onto a list is a very trivial issue to what's happening in the world. Anyway, it's just good to come here and just have fun and be friendly and hopefully make a small difference. :)

The top ten counts are screwed up in many categories. This forum usually shows the top ten answerers from months ago. Once in a while it will show Rio's true count, but once you click to see who else is on the top ten list for GWS, it goes back to the "old" counts of best answers.
It's not just GWS either, it happens in quite a few forums in YA.

Personally I couldn't care less about the points system. I come hear to listen, learn and participate........Do You know when I get a reward ? When My I get the opportunity to impart My wit and wisdom.
In answer to You question the two listings are on a permanent fascia board. It can only be updated when the entire system is being revamped. It is part of the overall format of the screen's background. Or so it was explained to Me.

one day I saw a top contributor label under my name. It was another account. It lasted for few seconds then it evaporated!
Maybe yahoo group was trying to tantalize me.
or there was a new employee who was still learning the things here. I don't really know, but what I know is that I was certainly not hallucinating.

It acts strange when the system updates. Just give it some time and if it don't appear after a long period of time, contact YA! and hopefully they'll respond.

Why are the women here so concerned about acquiring "points" and being featured in the "top contributors"?
Can anyone tell me what relevance Yahoo Answers points have in the real world, in our social lives, family lives, and school & work?

You think you have bad! I keep losing to that pompous functional biologist, ATP Man, in the biology section. There, regardless of recent answers, he is voted " best answer " often. He knows little of evolutionary theory, yet wins those answers too; all though some of his evolutionary responses are incoherent!
To me, it is a big deal. We scientists, even we plodders, are terrifically competitive.

i keep wondering that as well! it updates in weird ways, like the former #1 best answerer is not even on the list any more. it doesn't make sense.
