Unfortunately, they probably do, since they fork out money for most other kinds of "birth control."

Sad, isn't it? My hard-earned money that I'm paying in taxes is going to pay for you to get sterilized.

Something is wrong with this picture.

Resolution of tubal pregnancy or a tubal ligation? My guess would be yes for resolving a tubal pregnancy (if that's not done, you can die) and no for tubal ligation (it is optional, expensive, and not really the taxpayer's responsibility).

That being said...I am a very conservative person. I still think that Medicaid should pay for sterilization procedures. I'm not into social engineering or anything like that, so please don't slam me with that accusation. However, if a mother who qualifies for Medicaid wants a ligation, it makes more sense fiscally. It's much less expensive than pregnancy, delivery, health beneifts for a child, Head Start programs, free school lunches, the list goes on.

It depends on your state. In my state, you have to be a certain age, or have so many children. Most importantly the consent form has to be signed at least 30 days prior to delivery if you are already pregnant, or they will not do it in the hospital immediately after birth. You will need to ask Medicaid in your area, because they may have different rules.

it really depends on the state in which you live. i have to have a c-section this time as i did the previous 2 times and a c-section is a pretty expensive procedure. medicaid is paying for mine 100% when this baby is born in late february. sometimes it depends on your age, too. where i live, you have to be at least 27 years of age...i lucked out, i'm 28 almost 29. good luck!

I'm pretty sure they do - but I could be wrong. They pay for every other kind of birth control. I think they figure in the long run, less babies born to lower income mothers = more money the government saves.

Hell yes it will, I just had my tubes tied in November and Medicaid paid 100% - There might be extra forms to fill out at the docs, that's all I had to do. Good Luck!!

i think they will, they would have to pay for one procedure rather than more pregnancies in the long run. it would save the government money over time.

Yes, why wouldn't it? Medicaid covers pretty much everything your insurance doesn't cover - or if you don't have insurance, it covers everything.

They will only if you are considered not able to have any more children.
