Of course it's possible, but you'll just never see it. They'll cut it out before airing it.
Unless some enterprising asshat decides to upload it to youtube.

My best guess is that all reality shows have medical staff right there (like on Survivor) to help.
I also assume that for outrageous and fear stunts, contestants undergo physical exams before even joining the show.
If something were to happen, I'm sure every contestant has signed a waiver of some sort so that the show is legallly protected from a lawsuit.

Funny that you have mentioned it but I wondered the same thing too. Not to sound morbid, but I was thinking could it be possible for a contestant to simply drop dead on stage or something similar to that. Not to wish anything like that to happen. If it does, especially on live television like American Idol, the network will probably switch to another programming-- and some audience member will probably put the tragic event on Youtube, if the staff didn't escorted them out already.

Well I honestly wouldn't rule it out,but these shows usually have people on the side ready to step in if something goes wrong such as if for a stunt someone has to jump out of a plane but kinds wrongly there will be trained people on standby who can deal with the accident as soon as possible. Also in shows such as Big Brother Iam sure if someone is Ill or needs to visit a doctor then they may be let out for this.
Also Iam sure they have some sort of bodyguard in the background to protect the judges in American Idol so they must also have some sort of medic in case anyone gets injured.

People can die, antwhere, at anytime.
But You will never be shown that on Reality TV.
Or on any game show.
The show must go on and no negative publicity will be aided.
If someone died on any show, It would be noted, Denied it was because of the show and nothing could prove the person died due to non physical injury.

Yes, people die all the time, pretty sure it's been caught on tape, just not aired.
Now LIVE television, they would have no choice but to let everyone see.

The people who create these shows know that it can happen. This is why they have lawyers create legal papers that waive the contestants' rights to sue.
Before anybody steps onto a set, they must sign legal papers stating that they won't hold the producers or the network legally responsible for any physical harm including death. I beleive it's called a waiver.

That would be awful!
I remember watching a Toronto Maple Leafs game, and an elderly man, the Leafs were honoring, dropped dead. It paused the game for about an hour, and I was really sad. But they showed it because they probably did not know he was dying, and thought he just slipped.
