Heck no, if she wanted the dog, she pays. You folks did not give birth to it did you?

If both of you paid for the dog then yes you should help with the costs. Dogs are not humans but, expensive none the less. A dog is a responsibility you take on when you bring it home. The dog didn't ask to be there. It can't take care of itself. If both of you can't agree, it might end up in small claims court.

Of course you should!!! ............ maybe
See what happens when you have unprotected sex, doggy style..... lol
Personally, I think it really depends on how much you care for the dog, who originally wanted the dog, and if you are looking to get back together with your ex.
If it were me and I didn't really like the dog or want the dog in the first place and I wasn't interested in hookn back up with her, I would tell her to take a hike. If she can't/ won't support the dog she can take it to the pound.
So there ya go, advice worth what you paid for it... lol

I am a psychologist and have actually seen this before. In my opinion I feel that whoever keeps the dog must take on the responsibility in full. Sounds like she is very petty and cheap to be asking for this. You would be a fool to pay here a penny.
Also thousands is absurd you saying thousands means that she is claiming the dog will cost 5 to $6thousand a year to keep. If you believe her you are both ******* nuts. Tell the ***** to go **** off and pay up herself. Peace out ,

Ask her for visitation rights. Tell her that you will do every other week with your dog, and then the courts won't make you pay dog support.
Aren't you glad you used birth control?

Always remember "tic-for-tac" if she thinks getting "dog support" out of you is going to be easy then she'll ask for it. Give her hell. . .
ask for visitation rights,
obligation on her part for consulting with you about any choices made concerning the animal, ie spade, netured, shots, the pet's vet, dog park visited
fight for Christmas and for bi-yearly claiming the dog on your taxes. . .tell her you can deduct it's food !
trust me, if she is yanking your chain and you give her hell, she will back off. She is trying to go all out here to irk you. . .irk her back. The animal was purchased together, let her think you want it and she will fiercely protect it! Good luck even getting an address to send it lil I miss you notes! Trust me, if she truly loves the pet, she will not give it up to you and she will back off if you play her bluff.

Tell her she is nuts. If she wanted the dog she has to pay for it. It is not a child and no court is going to order you to pay pet support.
If you have broken off for good then just tell her goodbye and get on with your life.
Good luck

If you didn't pay for the birth and you give birth to your love child, then of course you should pay support! What kind of Dogfather are you? The dog didn't ask for his parents to get divorced. You took him from his birth parents and now your questioning whether you should support him? If you don't raise him right, he'll be running the streets sleeping with all kinds of b--ch's and leaving fatherless puppies all over the 5 buroughs!
Be a man and stand up to your responsibilities!

There is no law saying you have to for sure... but if you love your dog, it wouldn't be a bad idea. What do you have to do for a dog that costs thousands of dollars? Does it have a drug habit or something? :)

I'd think that if she wanted the dog, and she got the dog, then she got the dog's expenses.
