I got fired today because I spelled a sign from right to left, and the manager approched me with an abusive and unappropriate manner. Cursing and and unmanerly actittude was done by him in front of customers and children. He also insulted me by saying that it was spelled the same way in spanish, knowing that I'm latino. So a came to him at closing time to discuss the problem with him, and he told me he had done nothing wrong, I told him that just because I work for him It doesnt give him the right to talk to me or treat me tha way that he wants to. and he replyd saying it does. I never insulted him, and I never disoved him. I came to him appropriatly and spoke to him appropriatly. what should I do about this??

You should probably find another job. I don't want to pay taxes for your unemployed ***.

Sounds like your work life isn't going too well, dear. This incident sounds very unfair, but I don't think you can do anything except move on.

I suggest that you think very seriously about the jobs that you're getting and see if you can get trained to use your abilities in a way that makes you a valuable employee, instead of a human punching bag.

The place to start is to think about three problems you have solved in the past, times when solving a problem gave you great satisfaction.

What skills or talents did you use to solve these problems?

Those skills and talents are the ones you should develop, even if that means going to school or to a training program.

I hope this helps.

I remember reading somewhere that there is a top ten list of major life events that rank highest in stress. A death is one of them. Divorce is another. And job loss is another trauma to a human being's life force. I Remember the body and brain go through stress even when you are not aware of it. You asked what to do about this? I recommend two books. The first is called 'Looking Out For Number One" The Second is called "What Color Is Your Parachute?" These books will help you get back into action quickly. You could try eating humble pie and go back and beg for your job back. Its better than living a life of want. The list of major stressors is the following: 1.) Death of Spouse. 2.) Divorce. 3.) Marital Separation. 4.) Jail Term. 5.) Death of close family member. 6.) Personal injury or illness. 7.) Getting Married. 8.) Fired at Work. 9.) Marital Reconciliation. 10.) Retirement. Best of luck to you. Happy reading.

ditch that job man. I find it lame how some people will hold on to a job that they hate or are being abused in their work invornment. There are too many jobs in the U.S. to suffer over some stupid one.
I quite my frist job because the owners were way too, precise. They were OCD or somthing. Then they would yall at me for not doing it exactly how they wanted it. So i quite. Felt good and I found a better job later.
Anyway, I was saying all that because you didn't say that you got fired yet.
For the question of what you should do after you quite or get fired. Find another job.

It really depends upon whether you signed any papers, or were verbally advised, that your position was an "at will" position. In that case, you would have NO recourse what-so-ever.
Bosses often lose their tempers, and take it out on employees. You are not the first, and you won't be the last.
Find a new job, and try to collect benefits will you are looking....

Notify unemployment and collect your $. In the meantime look for a suitable job that will pay your expenses. Look forward to a better and brighter tomorrow. This guy is a insensitive jerk. A better job awaits. Good luck in your job search.

Honestly, of course find another job. But, because you feel he was out of line, you could go above his head and go to corporate with the problem. Good luck.
