Someone told me the other day I shouldn't because they would be cutting me up. But I think it's a great way to help someone live a better life.

My husband and I would love to be organ donors. He
had cancer and is not allowed even to give blood. I have
other health issues and am not allowed to give my organs.
I think that it is an awesome, caring, giving thing to do.
I admire you for doing it. I agree with you %100 percent.
Good for you. : } xx

I am also an organ donor. They may take what they need from my body after I no longer live in it.

I don't feel bad about that, rather the opposite; I would be proud to know that my organs or corneas can help someone that is alive have a better quality of life.

If you are Christian, you already know that once your body dies your spirit is freed from that shell. You no longer need it in this world.

It's recycling in the purest sense!

Thanks for the question, I hope it reminds people to make sure that they sign their organ donor card on the back of their driver's license and also tell their family members, so that won't be a debate when we die (and we all will die eventually) and it will hopefully be done in a timely manner.

Blessings and Hugs.
Madame B.

P.S. We do not have spirits......We ARE spirits. We HAVE bodies.

I think it is great that you want to be an organ donor. I also plan to be one; and seriously, what difference does it make that "they will be cutting you up"? You'll be dead. If some of my organs (not all of them are up to par) can be used to save someone else's life or improve the quality of their life, then why not? I mean, don't get me wrong: I fully respect an individual's choice to not donate their organs, but why do they feel they have to right to have input on your choice to do so? People have some nerve.

I think that's very good of you. You are completely right. So what if they cut you up? You won't care about that when you're dead. If they take your internal organs, your clothing will cover the incisions and you'll still make a presentable corpse for your family. Even if they take your eyes, they'll put plastic balls or something in your eye sockets and glue your lids shut, and no one would know the difference. Now if they took your hand or leg for transplantation, that would be a different story ... closed-casket or half-open would be a better option.

On the other hand, I'd think twice about the live-donor option (giving your spare kidney or bone marrow).

When I got my liscence and they asked if I wanted to be a donor I said, "Ew, no thanks." Then I saw this episode of "Scrubs" and they had four people waiting for organs or else they were going to die. Yeah, I know it's a fiction story, but it made me realize that that stuff happens in real life and there are many patients stuck in the hospital waiting for an organ donor. I plan on being a donor as well.

i'm an organ donor. BQ: it really is their decision. i might want to inspire all and multiple to be an organ donor, yet some human beings sense unusual about that. BQ2: No selection extremely. something that receives strong gas mileage, and is somewhat inexpensive. i don't have an excellent purchase to spend on a automobile or gas for it. lack of money is why I nonetheless don't have my license. don't have the money for the attempt yet.

Well if you believe in what the bible says, it does say that when we are brought into heaven we get new garments, I dont think that means we get a suit from Old Navy...I think we get new bodys to wear over our souls. I think everyone knows by now that we are not just our bodies, that the body is a temple that the spirit resides in. That spirit is real. Whether you are christian, catholic, muslim, judaism, or agnostic, or satanic, or believe in witchcraft, or Hindu...we all seem to believe in a continuance of spirit energy for an afterlife type of existence even in the theory of awareness and that the spirit goes into an energy pool is the same thing...we still go on into another form. So that is what I believe, give your heart, your skin to a burn patient, give your hair to someone with cancer, give your eyes, your jawbone, whatever is needed to make others who have to get through this crazy life a chance. Take Care.-Rachel.

Being an organ donar is great. You'll be giving the gift of life, but you shouldn't be asking us . In most states, sadly , your next of kin has the final say. You should talk to them. As for mutalation , organ donation doesn't effect you that much and you can still have an open casket. However tissue donation is more extreme and having seen it in surgery, grosses me out. They remove skin and bones, and replace them with weird stuff like PCV pipe.

i am an organ donor. if my dying can benefit someone else in this life, then let it be. some where there is someone who is dying slowly, a family is falling apart, fearing the worse, and grieving for what may not be....if i can stop that kind of pain, then my life has just been given new meaning and purpose.

I am and I encourage people to donate. Once your gone, it's a great way to help those struggling. I know those that are alive today because of someones organs. It's a great way to save a life.
