What exactly is a 'blocking scheme'?

Referring to the Offensive line. I've never understood. Giving examples of different schemes would help too.

Its just the main idea of the blocking. In a Zone scheme each line man has a specific area the have to block, they take one step in one direction and thats their man and then they pass the defender down the line makeing a wall and gap for cut backs. Some other schemes use man blocking where each man has one man to block, say the center is responsable for the middle linebacker and the tackle for the end and so on, this type general uses pulling guards and traps.

a blockimg cheme is the blocks designated for that certain play....like your pass blocking, pull blocking....things like that...its just assigned blocks just like routes for recievers
