Scorpions prefer temperate areas but they could also survive in a cold or hot places. They usually find cool underground holes or undersides of rocks or any object they could hide unexposed to the sun. Scorpions usually stay on their shelter during the day to escape from their predators and come out during the night to hunt for food .

Usual scorpion predators include birds, centipedes, lizards, and rats. They like to eat small arthropods and insects.

It is difficult to control scorpions with pesticides alone so the first thing you need to do is to modify your house surroundings. That means you need to eradicate all the possible areas they could hide in: piles of woods or old things, garbage containers, logs, bricks, stones, etc. If there are trees beside your house keep off any part that could possibly be a bridge for the scorpions to enter your house via roof or ceilings. Keep the doors and windows properly screened and be careful of any holes in any part of the house as scorpions can enter into them during the night.Sime effective pesticides against scorpions include Cyfluthrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, and bendiocarb .

Though small scorpions are said to be harmless to humans, all scorpions have venoms which can be potentially harmful so be careful.

I witnessed few deaths from scorpion sting when I was working in Saudi Arabia hospital and during the peak of the summer, the medical ward is usually half filled with patients stinged by scorpion.
