It seems to be that the recent popularity for the democrats (as presidential candidates) is based on an a merely EMOTIONAL reaction the state of US affairs under the Bush presidency....
My question is specifically addressed to those who want to replace the Bush presidency with another presidency that happens to be Democrat:
Why do you think that Bush must be replaced by a democrat?
HOW is it that a TOTALLY different president and administration (that say, happens to be republican) be a continuation of Bush presidency?
Bush's faults in Iraq and Katrina had nothing to do with him being a republican, and much to do with an arrogant man, a delusional man, a man that has a poor capacity to organize (think of the intellect of a chess player...well, that ain’t Bush)...What is the thinking behind this pro-democrat sentiment (as a reaction to Bush)...Is it that they think that all Dems are inherently less delusional & arrogant and thus all problems caused by presidential arrogance & ineptitude can be reversed?
Therefore, isn't this latest flop to Dem popularity just an emotional over reaction (To a "republican") on the part of the USA people, or does the rationale go deeper?
[Republican, Democrat, makes no difference to me, I JUST WANT WHAT’S BEST FOR AMERICA, AND I’M JUST TRYING TO GET REAL ANSWERS ABOUT THE LATEST POPULAR SENTIMENT]

I think the answer to your question is:
Because both sides have done a very good job of pitting citizen against citizen.
It's all about winning an argument.
It is pretty freekin sad.

Well, you summarized it pretty well. Bush has been a disaster for this country, and only the hard-core republican base still approves of him. However, some of the Republican nominees, certainly the popular ones, have failed to differentiate themselves sufficiently from Bush. I think this is the main reason people are looking to the Democrats.
The only Republican I like in this weak field of candidates is Ron Paul. He's the only one with truly fresh ideas and the only one who is advocating real change. Like you... Republican, Democrat - I don't care. However, the next guy needs to make up for a lot of mistakes made by the current administration. More of the same simply will not do, as this is a crucial time for our country.
Our military is broken as we're bogged down in terms of recourses/troops in Iraq with no end in sight. Our economy is stagnant at best, while other countries, potential enemies, are developing with amazing speed. Our diplomacy, in a word, sucks. We've lost a lot of respect around the world, alienated just about every region & continent, and we seem to be headed towards another cold-war of sorts with Russia (and in turn China). We may be headed towards another conventional war with Iran, and in the interim, we are empowering the current regime by talking tough against them. Then there are domestic issues, from our infrastructure, to health care, mortgages, immigration, national security, our national debt, homelessness, jobs/poor pay, social security, etc... the future is very much in doubt right now.
There is a laundry list of problems this president is passing on to his successor, and that person needs to be able to deal with it all. This next president *needs* to be great, and frankly, I don't see either of the party's front-runners stepping up to the plate.

Good question.....
I don't think it has as much to do with "having" a Democrat in to replace Bush, as it is a discernible proclamation that the Republicans have angered the voting public.
Bush has many issues which have hurt the entire Republican effort.
I know that since I started voting, Bush is the only President who was elected without getting my vote. I still believe to this day that the election was "stolen".
I'm still not sure who I will cast my vote for come the next election, but I definitely have never liked Bush, never believed he had any experience to be President, and I still believe that he'll be remembered as one of the "Worst" Presidents ever, for a multitude of reasons.....
Bush is not the only Republican with an arrogant attitude, I think the vast majority of them have come to believe that they are so much smarter and richer than the rest of America, that they just don't have to listen to the people, adhere to the Constitution, or follow our American written laws. I think these are the reasons that the Republicans will lose the next elections

Well Dreamer Dude
Try this one on for size
Listen to what the candidates are saying -- granted, you can't tell what they are actually going to DO if elected by what they say (Isn't THAT ironic to have to say about people who want to actually serve at the highest levels of government within a country that is supposed to PRIDE itself on openness !!) -----
BUT -- you CAN get a read on the CORE of where their thought processes are ------ and, to the individual running under the Republican banner (with one outstanding exception in Ron Paul) --- you have every single one of these people speaking of ------ continuation of most of the Bush policies and procedures !!! In other words --- more of the same --- they just simply DON'T GET IT !!!!
There again -- on the Democratic side of the aisle --- things aren't a hell of a lot better ---- more and more of the exact same drivel that has been spewing out of these people for months on end of the same --- "we're gonna's" --- when -- a year ago --- most of these people were sent to Congress to do a specific job ---- to end this MADNESS !!! And, they got there -- and, immediately ROLLED OVER and went back to sleep on the Republican dime !!!
I see but one choice in all of this if there is to be an honest Change for the Better --- and a completely new tact to the madness afoot in the capital !!! And, that is --- once Ron Paul looses the Republican nomination --- and, he is SURE to DO THAT !!! Him --- running as an Independant !!! This would be the ONLY OPTION for a complete halt to the "business as usual" in that "city of a thousand debaucheries" known as Washington DC !!!!!!!!!
Ron Paul ---------- 2008 !!!!!!!!!! ♥ < usa - love it --change it !!

Not to worry my friends! Hilliary is going to win the democratic nomination, but she doesn't stand a chance of winning the presidency. There will be another republican presidency.

i didn't read your whole thing (sorry) but I think what it comes down to is that a lot of America thinks in categories.
black/white
Democrat/republican
pro-life/pro-choice
christian/atheist
illegal/legal
smoker/non-smoker
fruit/veggie
it is just how we were taught to think from a young age...and it is how we teach our kids.
I think a lot of people are sick of Bush and they think that a demo crate would be better because a republican isn't working right now.

I want one of ANY party that will state his/her goals in advance. I'd like to see health care nationalized, true free trade (which NAFTA and CAFTA don't bring us) and a policy in place to deal with other countries rather than being as reactionary as we have become.
