Animal abuse is one of many first signs of an individual who may later in life choose to become homicidal. (many serial killers had a history at one time or another of animal cruelty) You have to think that if ANYONE is cruel to an animal they must lack empathy (ability to feel what someone else is feeling). This is concerning, in that someone without empathy is a ticking time bomb.......... not able to understand how their actions could forever HURT someone. If I had any concern that I, myself or someone I know could be, has been, or may in the future be Cruel to an animal........I would make sure that I or he or she .....whoever.................. spoke with a professional counselor ( if no insurance go to local health dept.) work out issues that may have triggered this empathy problem.....in hopes that NO animals would be hurt as well as possibly NO PEOPLE either. No,It's such a cruel thing to do.The only way I can make someone understand is what if you were one of those abuser's pet and you've been hurt repeatedly by him or her,how would you feel ? and do you think you deserved to be treated that way?...........I think not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know of pets out there who shows and give more love to their owner than that owner love ones.Some dogs have gave their own life in order to save their owner and anyone should recognized that.Just because they're animals doesn't give anyone the right to hurt them.
Just like that song:
"YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU DO TO ME,CAUSE SOMEBODY MIGHT DO IT TO YOU".
There's also a old says:
"WHAT GOES AROUND,COMES RIGHT BACK AROUND".
My words to anyone who hurts any animals or even think about ever hurting an animal,think twice..............better yet,don't even think about it.
IMAGINE,WHAT IF YOU WERE THEM ??????????

it is not right to harm animals,
i see these people with dogs in the back of flatbed trucks or on top of tool boxes in pick-ups and I wonder what kind of idiot they are to let their best friend be so unprotected.
my dog has a seat harness to keep himside the car and contained in the event of an accident just like the seatbelt does for me.
won't lie to you, i get deeply distressed about people who harm animals, like the issue in the islands where the idiots took animals and threw them off a bridge to their death.
those people need to be punished

Ok mild disagrement here from someone who has a dog that needs regular shots of injectible medication to live- SOMETIMES there are medical needs or other very sound reasons......
Hurting for the sake of hurting them yep that wrong but when there are good reasons it can be right.

do you mean hurting them for fun or do you include slaughtering livestock for food in that question?
anyone that is cruel to an animal for their own sick pleasure is a demented psychopath however as a meat eater I have no issue with making cows into steaks

I don't think anyone thinks it's "right" but some people that abuse their pets do not realize the psychological effect it has on the pet and they most likely do not care.
I don't see how anyone can hurt an animal.

If it is necessary for survival, yes.
sometimes vegitables just don't cut it.
I enjoy a great number of different meats including beef, chicken, deer, ect.

It's not nice! I know a guy that used to abuse many dogs, he shot one but it lived & he pierced his cats ears but the earrings got ripped out somehow? That was my past kittens mother.
