Why dont we send prisoners to fight wars?

I think during WWII that the judge would,or could offer jail,or military.I understand that a lot of them serve red our country well,this could be a solution for prison over crowing,I'M for it.

That is a pretty good idea. But legally speaking that is against the rule and regulation of the principle of law. Prisoner's should be punished that is why they are in jail for their sentencing and if they are send to fight imaginary war created by the government which ever country it is then they are violating the constitution.

Prisoner's are not soldiers and are not train to do such things. They will just escape in the field when they find the opportunity to do so. So what is the point of sending them there in the first place were nothing is virtually accomplished, the government is just wasting resources and man power for this stupid endeavor.

About 18.5 percent of the recruits needed some kind of waiver, including those for medical problems and drug and alcohol issues. More than 54 percent of those who received waivers, however, were enlistees with criminal backgrounds.

So, we are not sending prisoners to fight war, but we are sending convicted felons and misdemeanants there.

possibly because the purpose of fighting a war is usually TO WIN IT! since 'gang members' are undisciplined, lazy, vicious, and incapable of taking orders, they would LOSE IT!!! a well known strategist once validated this with the theory that any large group of hells angels thugs could be easily beaten by a group of 15 year old VMI cadets

I don't know, but I know what we should do. We should gather up all the gang members and send them over there. They want to shoot and fight with people, lets send them. Because in reality that is what gang member are, domestic terrorist. And why our government has not done anything about the gangs in the U.S. is beyond me.

Because they would shoot their enemies - US! What would you do, have prison guards aim their guns at the criminals to make sure they shoot the right people? And who's protecting the prison guards from the enemy? I'm sure the prison guards would rather take their chances against one enemy.

Offering military combat training to know criminals would make them that much more dangerous when they return, plus.. how could you expect them to follow the rules of combat, if they can not follow the rules of society?

Combat requires teamwork, and they would likely just look out for themselves.

Plus, they would be much more likley to extort the locals, giving the entire US a bad name.
