It is a mixture. A solution is a homogeneous mixture but ice cream is made of milk which is a colloid. A colloid will not allow light to pass through without dispersing the light. Light does not pass through ice cream. Since it contains a colloid ice cream must be a heterogeneous mixture.

A solution is a homogenous mixture (usually in a liquid but not always).

Simply if you can see the different parts it is not a solution. If you can't then it is.

Dirt you can see different components, so not a solution. Air you cannot see the different components. Air is considered a solution.

its a mixture because it hasn't been chemically reacted to become ice-cream. Its just a whole lot of stuff mixed together and frozen..

but ice-creams's gooood... yummm :)
