Fade my curtains? Do you think I should install blinds instead?

I'm in Australia... we are going to get an extra hour of sunshine in the afternoon when daylight savings come in... so I'm worried that my curtains on the west side will fade... sorry for the confusion.

Maybe consider a move to Venezuala, President Chavez has decided to move back only 1/2 an hour. Your drapes will only fade half as much and you'll live twice as long?

daylight savings time in the USA has been changed for this year and next year, by act of Congress. In 2007 and 2008, the AHEAD change takes place in the second weekend in March (3/11/07), and the BACK will not take place until the first weekend of November. This year, 2007, the FALL BACK change will actually take place at 2 AM Sunday, November 4th. At that moment, we set our clocks back one hour and relive that hour, creating a 25 hour day to make up for the hour we last in March. In 2008 the dates will be March 9th and November 2nd.

My great-grandfather ignored it for thirty years to no ill effect. It helped that he ran his own business. His hours seemed a little odd for about half the year but it never affected sales. He's a family legend. Me,I conform. I would tear down those curtains and do a rave rendition of "Good Day Sunshine",then curl up on the floor and go I'm melting,I'm melting!

The sun will eventually fade anything you put in the window. So, it's up to you and your budget, but neither will be eternally sunproof. There are anti UV films you can put over the glass to prevent the UVA and UVB rays from getting through if you really want to prevent sun damage.

You should paint your windows with aluminium paint as a first defence and use the blinds (alu painted of course) as backup.

see you on the other side!
