I did a lab experiment with an unknown solution. I noticed that my solution had a sweet scent and I noticed that the solution has a boiling point near the same boiling point as Toluene. I was wondering if Toluene has a sweet smell?

I have never noticed a "sweet" smell with toluene. It smells too much like any other industrial solvent to me. Boiling point alone isn't much to go on for a lab result. You need to measure the density of the liquid, too. With both of those to compare with standard information you may have an easier time identifying the liquid.

I've always thought toluene smelled just like rubber cement. Probably because it has some in there. Not sure I'd call it sweet, though.
