If you love somebody, you care deeply for them. Hate is the same as love in that way. You expend the same amount of energy hating a person as you would loving a person. That's why my answer is also INDIFFERENCE. If you truly don't care about someone would be the direct opposite of both love and hate. The trick is, though, that it's a lot easier to switch from love to hate than it would be to become indifferent.

(IMO)
There is emotion, or no emotion. The opposite of every emotion is a lack of it. Some emotions exist in contrast from each other, for example the triangle of happiness, anger and sadness, or yes, love and hate, but the true opposite of "anything" is "not-anything". In this case the word we would use is apathy.
