Because LSU is a defense-based team. If their defense sucks in a particular contest, chances are they will lose in a shootout. Fatigue was taken over, they were in an enemy's stadium and perhaps they were looking past Kentucky as well.

Technically they "dont" hold it against Georgia that they didnt win their part of the SEC, but I see no reason to hold it against them. Two other non conference champs have gone on to play in the BCS title game, but this is just another statement to why Division I should have a playoff system. Georgia is the hotter team winning 6 in a row and LSU's only 2 losses were in triple overtime. You can make a case for about 6 teams that could be in the BCS national title game (Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, USC). The SEC is by far the toughest conference in the nation and an SEC team is going to be left out of the BCS because of its 2 team limit per conference. The presidents of colleges wont allow a playoff because they think they will lose their bowl dollars they highly covet instead of a genuine playoff system like the rest of the sports world. You can make a case for any of the 6 teams listed, and there is no right answer.

Kentucky just made too many mistakes versus South Carolina. They could have won that game.
This game was redemption for the trouncing that LSU gave Kentucky last year and also revenge for the "Bluegrass Miracle" a few years ago.

Some people say this is the problem with the SEC, but I think its what is great about the SEC. The competition is really incredible. I'd rather watch a SEC game over any other conference. You just never know who will win!
Go Gamecocks!

Like I have said before, on any given day any team can win or lose.
KY won because they dug in and worked hard. .....and how many 4th down plays can you do before you finally lose.
