There are all sorts of things people donate to save someones life.
Doctors donate their time and give free medications to many free clinics in the USA.
Pharmaceutical companies donate medications to many indigents, who would die without certain life saving drugs.
Individuals donate time and money to various programs for persons with HIV or Aids, both of which are life threatening conditions.
People can donate bone marrow, blood, plasma. a kidney and even a section of their liver.
After you die, if you have organ donor on your medical records or driver's license or another legal document, you can donate whatever organs that are needed to save another person's life.

Their life. Think of the person who steps in and stops the bullet from hitting another, so that they may live. Another good example today is the members of the U.S. Armed Forces, who by their very actions overseas help limit the terrorists' freedom to manuever and to come to our shores to wreak havoc (again)!

Blood, organs, bone marrow, and money, money can buy food, water clothing, shelter, blood organs, health care, lots of stuff, another thing would be time, and sometimes love.
