It isn't a massive production, but it is still proffesional. do i have a chance, and if not can you tell me what i need to do so i do have a chance? thanks. And by the way, I am not a high or low singer, i am both, so please tell me what to do! ive never auditioned before!

Summer theatre right now??? If it's a professional production and you have no experience then I wouldn't hold my breath, but you absolutely should audition. You have to start sometime, but do NOT go in unprepared. Audition all you can and every single time you should know all you can about the show and the character you hope to get. In this case you'd be auditioning for Ado Annie's sister. Technically I believe the role is just Ado Annie's sibling. I suggest you rent the movie even though it's not exactly the same as the stage production. Actually, I highly recommend the 1999 version starring Hugh Jackman which is the stage production... they filmed it! :-) Watch it a couple of times at least and get to know the show.

When you prepare for the audition you should do your best to sing something that has the character you want in mind. A friend of mine's daughter got the role you want by singing "You Can't Get A Man With A Gun" from Annie Get Your Gun and she did it with the country bumpkin accent. She totally acted it out and I believe she brought a fake rifle... I cant remember for sure. She had actually just finished doing AGYG, which is why she even had that in her head, but it worked for her. We heard the laughter from the lobby which was around the corner from where she was auditioning... That would be my best suggestion for an audition song since I know it worked so well for someone else, but you really have to sell it! If you do it half heartedly, it will flop.

If you don't think it will work for you, find another song. Maybe these could work:
My New Philosophy – You’re A Good man Charlie Brown
Why Am I Me – Shenandoah
The Big Time – Will Rogers
There’s A Sucker Born Every Minute – Barnum (sung by an adult male, but it could still work)

break a leg!

One thing that will increase your chances of getting the part is your personality. Have a bright, optimistic personality that shines with charisma and polite. You have to act professional, and accept that fact that you are not the only person auditioning. That being said, you should definitely learn how to read music, because in productions, cast members tend to be given music to memorise, and not always a CD.

Work on your self-presentation, tell yourself that you can do this, and do your best on your audition.

It might also be good to warm up, and when auditioning, make sure to pick a song that flatters your tones of voice and reflects the range that you can sing.

Good luck!
And break a leg.

Well, when you get the chance learn to read music, do.
But for right now just listen to a sung being sung over and over.
Practise the song over and over.
The end result should be great.
I would suggest a piece from RENT but since you are so young try a piece from Wicked.

Find someone who plays piano to help you learn a song with piano accompaniment. If you can sing WITH a piano you will do fine.
