Mix a quarter cup of sugar with a tablespoon of ground cinnamom. Add enough water to this in a cup or bowl to make @ a cup of liquid. Microwave on high as you would to make a cup of tea or coffee. Let this sit in your microwave until it cools. A tablespoon of almond or vanilla extract in a cup of water also works.

First clean microwave inside with dish soap and water mix
and clean the best you can.
Next try putting vinegar in a shallow microwave bowl about
1 cup and a 1/cup water and run for 1 minute and let sit
in microwave and it should remove burn smell
I know there is nothing like burnt popcorn smell
Good Luck!!!

Most new microwaves have a filter in them. Without knowing what kind you have my best advice is to do a search at the manufacturer's website for a copy of the owner's manual if you don't have the original. The filter is usually pretty easy to get to and can be washed and then put back. Make sure you don't have one of the carbon based filters though, I don't think you can wash those.

Put a bowl of warm water with lemon juice( 1 whole lemon) and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Then start it for 5 minutes. It will get rid of the smell. You can do it twice if it still smells but with fresh ingredients. Hope that helps.

Try putting a small bowl of lemon juice in the microwave and heat it for a couple of minutes. Leave it sit in there for a couple of hours and then wipe it with a sponge or paper towel.
