i have read that a few years ago the tomb under the sphinx in egypt was opened for the first time but something happened so it had to be resealed this was done in such a hurry that some people were sealed in
is this true and if so what could prompt such an action
egyptian authorities deny it ever happened

Not heard of that one.
However, the sphinx has been the subject of geological survey, and it is reckoned that there is an interesting object or cavity between its paws, but there has not been any attemp to excavate it.

I personally have never heard this story before and i assume it isn't true as surely it would have been all over the news.
But then again the Egyptians are very superstitious people and it may be a government conspiracy. Just take Hangar 11 for example with the supposed alien spaceship in it. America try and cover this up by saying it never happened but there is outstanding evidence to say it did happen.
Still though i think its untrue as when the English opened Tutankhamun in the 1920's surely the Egyptians would have taken futher action to seal that up. xx
