not abusively but enough to make them be quiet

Not just to make them be quiet but to discipline when unruly I absolutely believe in corporal punishment under the right circumstances. I was spanked as a boy and the only damage done to my bottom has been done lately...by gravity. My parents were loving and took good care of us too. One must have the wisdom to know when to use the rod and when not to but also to never discard it completely.

I do believe a whack on the bottom can be a good thing. I do not think parents should hit in anger, more then once or twice, or anywhere else except the bottom. I do not think talking to your children 100% of the time works, and I think a whack on the bottom should go with a punishment. No child should ever be beaten, hit with an object, hit in the face or threatened. Those things just instill fear, anger, & distrust. I do think the adults of today are not in control and expect the schools to be the authority figure in their child's life, and that is part of the problem we have in society today. Children need boundaries, and to know someone is in control, meaning not them...is makes them feel safe, which should be a given in all children's lives.

I don't think it's right to hit anyone but maybe a little if the kid is being bad just to discipline em.

if my 2 yo tries to run out in the street. I grab him and give him one swat on the bottom. I tell him "no thats dangerous"

Thing is, he doesnt get hurt or cry because he's still in diapers, but on dangerougs things like the street , unlocking the front door to let himself outside by himself and touching the stove or outlets , gets one swat ( I take all neccessary saftey precausions and I watch him like a hawk , but he still tries).

otherwise for all other punishment its " go to your room !"

Yes I see nothing wrong with a little spanking. I was hit as a child and I am fine today. And people wonder what is wrong with children today.

i sure do. kids need a lil' whipping every once in a while. keep them in line. i never talked back to my mother or acted up in public, why because i was scared that if i did i would get a whip w/ the belt, that's why and i don't hate my mom for it, even though i hated when she told me she was only doing it because she loved me.

I dont think a parent should ever hit their kid. Then once you hit the kid it could possible make them scared of the parent. Even if it isnt abusively.

Yes, as long as it is meant to sting. No beatings, just a sharp slap. One and if that wont do it, then punishment.
