I have a White sewing machine, Quilt 'n Sew, model #1730. I lost the manual. I've searched for the manual online too, but no one has it. Please help!

Your local sewing machine dealer can get you a manual. (Not Wal Mart or Jo-Anns!)

In the meantime, here's how to do it manually:

The lines on the foot are your guide for how long your buttonhole should be. Make it just a little longer than the button itself.

Choose the slowest speed. Choose the tightest zigzag stitch that your machine allows. It might even be labelled as the buttonhole stitch. Attach the foot to your machine and position it so it's all the way towards you. Lower the foot and shift your needle to the right, then lower the needle into the fabric.

1.Sew forward until it reaches the mark you already chose.

2. Lift the needle out and shift it back to the center. Don't lift your buttonhole foot. Lower your feed dogs. (those two plates under the fabric that push it away from you) Sew in that one spot until you get a good thickness for your buttonhole end.

3. Now lift the needle out and shift it to the left. Re-engage your feed dogs. Sew in reverse until you get back to the end of your buttonhole foot.

4. Repeat number 2.

5. Carefully snip between the two rows of stitching to open up the buttonhole.
