Today I heard the most prominent NBC reporters giving their opinions on what are the duties of the candidates for president. The first thing that came to my mind was that those reporters are employees of NBC/GE corporation. They are not independent thinkers free to tackle any issue. Some issues are off limits to them and the scope of those issues they tackle is also limited. They are also more concerned with the show and their advertisers than they are with the issues that concern the American people.

Hello! Surprise surprise. Our government is dictated to by those with the deepest pockets. Most of us already know this.
But I'd like to ask: What would others do in the same position as the journalists? Those who have come close to opposing these restrictions are beached whales.
WHO do we blame? Without prejudice: Journalists, government, ( whose secrets are illegally kept even when under investigation), or corporations? Or all of the above?
$$ is the sacred symbol of the US, & all the world knows it.
WHAT American people? Dams, bridges, railroads going to hell in a handbasket, increasing homeless, starving children, no health care, the natural environment. Now we have this atrocity about Turkey--why now when that area is so tenuous? THINK, people, THINK.

Noam Chomsky who was mentioned by another answerer is an authority on the subject. Professor of linguistics at MIT and probably a Nobel Laureate one day.
