Personally, I think that upbringing does play a big role in the choices that people make. I think the fact that a lot of kids aren't given anything to believe in, they fall for any and everything. And society, in general, I believe becomes more evil by the minute. Just my two cents.

This is the old nature or nurture argument. In my experience, some people are born just plain evil. They may have good parents and plenty of material things but they still wind up doing horrible things. Others do have a horrible time of it in life and end up contributing to society. There's really no telling.

It's truly an open debate.

It's known that some people are born with a sour attitude or, rather disturbing fantasies.

A person can change drastically over time from child-hood to teen-age years, I would assume a lot of it has to do with society, but I also know some of it is genetic.

Example: A child with a good life, a good family can turn out to be a serial killer, pedophile or even a terrorist while a child with a bad life and bad family can turn out to be one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

So, as stated before, it's truly an open debate.

I think that we are all limited: this entails our share of badness, misunderstanding and ignorance. Society is the consequence of our ignorance and/or of our knowledge: we are society, we constitute it, but we are also built by it. It is a mutual favor: we are thrown into the world (and we can't help where we live and our prejudices), but we are also able to reach an authentic life when we are able to accept silence and introspection (self-reflexion can help us overcome our fears, our being intrinsically bad or evil).

Have you seen children. There are not the nicest people in the world. I love children, but they can really be little bastards just like adults can be. We start off screwed up. If we have any sense we try to better ourselves as we go.

It's our socialization that make us who we are. The people whom we encounter as we learn the rules, the people who teach the rules will turn us to good or evil or indifference.

Sorry, this is flawed. Since society is comprised of ALL individuals, it has a meliorating effect upon individuals.
People can be born bad; they can become bad due to familial influece or societal influence.

We are neither good or evil at birth. Evil or good is a human construct. There is no absolute good or absolute evil.
