It was Elvis of course. The King of Rock and Roll. He was no.
1 during my era. He changed the course of music and music
changed to what it's become today (of course Rap wouldn't
be in his picture if he'd lived).
My favorite group was really a duo. The Everly Bros. How I
loved to sing along in harmony when their records were on
the radio.
I think I was about 12 when Elvis came on the scene. And
we got to see him in action on the Ed Sullivan Show.

This would be when I was about 10. Would you believe it was Spike Jones? We had a 45 rpm record player and my folks bought a record of Spike Jones doing a medley of nursery rhymes. It was hilarious. I can still remember some of it:
"You know, Old Mother Goose, when she wants to wander, flies through the air on a very fine gander. As she flies through the air with the greatest of ease, this is what she hears and what she sees ..." Then he goes into the nursery rhymes with his own version and sound effects.
