My baby is going to be 1yrs old on Tuesday and she still screams. When she was 3 weeks to about 6 months she was colic. Eventually, she got over being colic, however she was still screaming. She screams when I change her diaper, she screams at me when I am feeding her. She screams as you put her in the car seat. When you stroll her around outside and stop for a few, she screams. If you don't let her crawl around and explore where she want to, she screams. She is driving me crazy. Does anyone know when this is going to stop? This is my second child and my first never acted this way.

I know just how you feel. My daughter was fine. Then I had my son. He started screaming a high pitched scream on his 3rd night and he kept it up for 9 months. He wanted to be held in my arms and be fed every hour (he was a 9lb baby) and any deviance from this resulted in screaming - if i put him down, if i bathed him, if I changed him, if food wasn't frequent enough - screaming. It was only when he cut another tooth that it stopped. He had been more screamy than usual whilst he was cutting it and I supposed he was so relieved when it actually came through he just stopped.
Hope it stops for you soon too.

First, take her to a different medical professional to make sure there is nothing wrong with the child. Frequently simple things are missed in infants. Sometimes bones are broken in the birthing process and are never found. Sometimes the doctor is a quack who can't diagnose an obvious condition.

Some children learn early that crying will get the response that they want from a caretaker of parent. If everyone jumps to attention when the child screams, this could be part of the problem. While it may sound cruel, will she stop if you ignore her for a short period?

My second daughter was colic. She screamed about everything. She continued with this same behavior for a little over a year and the doctors found nothing. About the only thing she seemed to like was rocking on my chest or listening to me sing with her head against my chest. Be patient with the child. If stress gets to you; look for help from family, friends, and community resources. Please never let your anger out on the child.

It will pass. Hang in there! Try not to pamper and soothe her every time she pitches a fit, though. If you do, she will realize that she's getting her way, and it will take longer to stop. Just let her fuss for a minute or two to see if she'll stop (after all her needs are met) and then love her up. This will let her know that mommy isn't happy about her screaming, and that she is not getting her way.
Good luck to you!

It just sounds like she has a bad temper. When she gets closer to age 2 you can start time-outs on a naughty chair or step. Everytime she does this make her sit for 2 minutes. If she still screams make her sit until she calms down. You can also, at this point, use a stern voice and say "STOP SCREAMING" and put her down and don't pick her back up until she stops.

Don't let her get what SHE wants from screaming or it will never be outgrown. Too bad you are not allowed to get a tiny slap on the mouth each time, anymore.
