Make flash cards and reward yourself with a treat when you get about five to ten answers right [in a row if you want to challenge yourself]
Relax on a hammock in a peaceful location with an apple or something and just study--sometimes quietness does the trick!
How about a scavenger hunt or something? Make a bunch of cards with questions and scatter them all over your house, then as you find each of them, you have to answer it. I know you said by yourself but playing it with a sibling would make this fun :]
Play Bingo with your vocab words etc.
Good luck!

Studying is not necessarily a fun task. But it is necessary. There are ways to make it more tolerable.
My attention span is spotty sometimes, especially if I am tired. I try to break down what I need to study in manageable portions. Like break in down per lecture or per topic. When I have gotten a portion done and in my brain, I reward myself with a little break like an quick online game (card, puzzles, etc.) or just a break with something more interesting like a magazine or book.
Try listening to some upbeat music to keep you going. If lyrics distract you, try some upbeat jazz. If you snack, keep it healthy, Unhealthy snacks will just bog you down.
Its a lot easier if you just break in down into smaller bits. Plus. our brains learn better than way anyhow. Its not designed to have loads of info crammed into all at once. When you know you have a test coming up, try to start studying as early as you can.

Find a study partner, and make a game of who gets the most right answers. I always asked the questions first, that way I was thinking of the right answer for as long as it took my partner to think of it or work it out. Good luck.
