I lived in Charlotte a few year back and it is a great city with professional football and basketball teams. MLB is years away from adding additional teams and Charlotte does not even have a ballpark to play in and no plans, or money, to build one. Also, I have not heard of a group, representing Charlotte, with money pushing to bring a team there. It doesn't look good to me for anything in Charlotte.
Edit:
Chipmaker brings up the Charlotte Knights which is now a triple A affiliate of the White Sox. If you live in the Charlotte area you know the Knights play in Rock Hill, South Carolina about 12 miles south of Charlotte. I actually saw Jim Thome and Edgar Renteria play there when they were a Indians affiliate. Also, Manny Ramirez played there at one time.

Baseball needs fewer major league teams playing in minor league cities not more .If MLB contracted by about 8 teams the game would be much healthier overall

Well, you guys had a hard time keeping an NBA team, so that doesn't bode well for you. I don't know, that's tough. The city has to make an extremely strong push for a team if they really want one. Who knows? You might get an expansion team if there's enough interest. Come on, if Tampa Bay could get a team, you guys have a shot.

I think the D-Rays should relocate to the Carolinas and change their name to "Jaguars". What do you think? Kind of like the Panthers?
