Sunshine of your Love.
For the guitar solo, Clapton quoted the opening lines from the Rodgers/Hart classic "Blue Moon" (1934). (Dylam also covered it.)
that's probably Gawry's "secret".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_of_Your_Love
He also develpoed the technique of "woman music".
"Perhaps the best examples of the "woman tone" are Clapton's famous riff and solo from his band Cream's 1967 hit "Sunshine of Your Love." Clapton has explained that he obtained the tone with his Gibson's tone control rolled all the way down, switching to the neck pickup (closest to the fretboard) and the volume all the way up, with his amplifier also turned up. The treble, mids and bass controls on the amplifier were also maxed out. Some versions of the "woman tone" may also have involved strategic positioning of Clapton's wah-wah pedal." (Wiki)

I was going to say "Let it Grow" but that's a Clapton song....so for Cream, I'll say "White Room". A lot of "Derek and the Dominoes" and "Cream" stuff is still being done by Eric Clapton so a lot of it just blends together in my mind.

'cream' was actually built on the pattern of rory gallagher's 'taste'. ginger baker thought a power trio was a brilliant idea, but that he could go one better.
my favourite cream track per se is probably 'crossroads' - robert johnson was almost unknown before eric clapton re-introduced him to the british record-buying public.
but i also have a special soft spot for 'sweet wine', ginger baker kept playing it with blind faith, and later with the airforce - so the song has a mini-history of its own.
do you know the secret of the clapton guitar solo in the disraeli gears 'sunshine of your love'?

When you say Cream, I think of White Room or Sunshine of Your Love. Can't choose between 'em.

Sunshine of your Love probably beats White Room for me. Tales of Brave Ulysses is awesome, too.

Sunshine of your Love
Its getting near dawn,
When lights close their tired eyes.
Ill soon be with you my love,
To give you my dawn surprise.
Ill be with you darling soon,
Ill be with you when the stars start falling.
Ive been waiting so long
To be where Im going
In the sunshine of your love.
Im with you my love,
The lights shining through on you.
Yes, Im with you my love,
Its the morning and just we two.
Ill stay with you darling now,
Ill stay with you till my seas are dried up.
Chorus
Second verse
Ive been waiting so long
Ive been waiting so long
Ive been waiting so long
To be where Im going
In the sunshine of your love.
